TOWTON 1461  Presented by TERRY DEARY

Amazon review by Historian and Author George Peter Algar: "Even if you saw the original TV programme, this is still worth watching for the extras alone. This battle has been erased from the nation's psyche but Roger Keech puts paid to that as soon as you put the DVD in the player and click the OK button. Towton, in Yorkshire, is the site of this nation's bloodiest battlefield - more men were killed in hand to hand fighting on Palm Sunday in 1461, than were killed in the first day of battle on the Somme, with all of its mechanised warfare. Gruesome does not come into it but this DVD is put together with sympathy, understanding and tact. Check out the war hammer scenes at the Royal Armouries and White Rose Armourers and I'll defy you not to wince. Shot with great sweeping views of the terrain, characteristic of a David Lean film, you will watch this DVD again and again."
